The Champions League is one of the most prestigious tournaments in the world and certainly the most important club competition in Europe. Most of the time, the UEFA Champions League  Final is the most watched sporting event of the year. The competition was introduced in 1992 to replace the European Champions Cup which had been going on since 1955. The 22 teams that qualify placed at the top 3/4 spots of their regional league in the previous season. Together with those 22 teams, another 10 will join after a round of playoffs during the summer season. The total amount of teams is therefore 32 and the winner automatically qualifies for the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup. 

 

Real Madrid is currently the club which has won the most titles and the only one to win the UEFA Champions Leagues three times in a row.
